Skills USA is a program where students and teachers work together to assure that there is always a skilled workforce. On April 25th and 26th, West Salem High School’s Skills USA club will be attending the State Competition. The competition will be in Madison, WI at the Alliant Energy Center. A total of 14 West Salem students will be competing.  

Senior Hunter Young will be performing in the Automotive Service Tech competing along with Senior Evan Modlin and Career Academy student from Onalaska Cody Feehan. Senior, Trevor Smith, will be competing in welding along with Senior Ted Tiber. Junior Gracie Larson, will be performing in The Team Engineering Challenge with Senior Sammie Dopson, Junior Hannah Caulum, and Sophomore Aimee Perrott. Junior Aly Graef will be competing in CO2 Dragster along with Junior Caden Kane, and Sophomore Ryan Rasmusson. Career Academy student Justin Hanson from Onalaska will be performing in Diesel. Sophomore Jacob Iverson will be competing in Cabinet Making. Senior Trevor Smith will also be competing in Welding Fabrication along with Junior Evan Rowe and Sophomore Daniel Schwarz. 

Advisor, Paul Liethen, says, “I am very excited for the strong group of seniors that we have this year. I believe they have the potential to do very well.”
