West Salem Forensics Team Excels at State

The West Salem Forensics Team competed at the state level competition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Saturday, April 22nd.  The team sent 12 students to the competition and came back with 12 medals.

Students competed in various categories including Group Interpretative Reading, Radio Speaking, Play Acting, Prose reading And Farrago.  Students advanced from the Sub-District competition on February 9th, and the District competition on March 11th.

At the state level, students perform one time, different from the three rounds at previous competitions.  The students can medal at state based on their score out of 25: 19-20 receive baby bronze medals, 21-22 receive bronze medals, 23-24 receive silver medals and 25 receive gold medals.

Senior, Abby Tower, competed in forensics for 3 out of 4 years of her high school career. Tower competed at the state competition of both her junior and senior year, earning a bronze medal last year, and a silver medal this year.  “Forensics is a flexible club that offers a lot of opportunities and improves speaking skills,” says Tower.
