Q: What are your first impressions?

A: I love West Salem High School and I have taught here previously. I taught for about 30 years in this same school, and then I retired, but I keep coming back and taking other positions. But I think it’s an excellent school district. I’m happy to be here.

Q: Why do you keep coming back?

A: Because it’s something that I feel comfortable doing, I feel comfortable in this environment and I like to come back and see people. And West Salem School District has always treated me very well, so I like to come back and help out when needed.

Q: Where did you go to college? Tell me about your teaching experience.

A: I got my teaching degree initially from Winona State University — my Bachelor of Science, and then as went on, I got a Master’s degree in education from The University of Wisconsin La Crosse.

Q: Where are you from/Where did you work before this?

A: I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. My main teaching position has been at West Salem High School, I have also taught at West Salem Elementary.

Q: How different is that from here?

A: It’s different in that I was working with smaller, grade school children and that was fun. But, I do feel more comfortable working with high school students, I do still enjoy the little ones.

Q: What’s your teaching philosophy?

A: [I] Expect a lot from students, and they will rise to the cause.

Q: What do you do outside of school?

A: I like to read, I like to ride bikes, and my husband and I do a lot of traveling. We’ve traveled to Europe a couple times, Ireland, and to the Caribbean a lot. We like to travel.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to discuss?

A: Nope, that about does it. Thank you.
