Q: How was your first day? What were your first impression of WSHS?

A: My first day back, it was exciting, and fun, and just like riding a bike again. Getting going, this is my twenty-second year teaching, so I don’t feel like I have missed much.

Q: Can you tell me about your college education or teaching journey?

A: I started out at Viterbo University for my first semester, and then I transferred to UW-Eau Claire for family reasons, and I got most of my degree there. Then I got married in the middle and ended up coming to UW-La Crosse with my husband and finished up at UW-La Crosse, so that’s where I got my undergraduate degree. Then I taught one year at Newman High School in Wausau, and then came here and was here for twenty years before I took two years leave of absence for family reasons.

Q: Where are you from? How different is Wisconsin/West Salem different from where you lived before?

A: I am originally from Fall Creek, Wisconsin, home of the Fall Creek Crickets. It’s actually not a whole lot different. It’s a pretty small community and Eau Claire is our largest neighboring city which reminds me a lot of La Crosse.

Q: What is your teaching style/philosophy?

A: My teaching philosophy really is that all kids are capable of learning and that everyone can definitely achieve and excel at the level that they want to excel at, and my job is to help you be the best that you can be and learn what I am most passionate about and that is science!

Q: What do you do outside of school?

A: Outside of school I like to sew and cook and can and spend time with my family. My daughter’s a senior this year, we have two dogs and a cat. I also work two other jobs. I work at Misty’s Dance Unlimited and her other business which is, More Than Just Great Dancing. It keeps me busy.
